Bismarcktower in Delecke
I am writting about the Bismarcktower in Delecke, which I visited last year.
It is located on the highest piont of the Haarstrang. Around it theres just flat land, so if you stand on top of it you can see really far, allthougt the tower is just 18 metres high.
The architekt Suedhoff designed the tower, but originaly it was planed to be a much higher tower than ist is now.
The tower was built from 1st April 1914 to 1st April 1934. It took that long to build this small tower because they ran out of money and had to find new sponsors for finishing it. To save money they made it smaller than planed.
The tower has a quadratic base and it has a cupola on top of it. On each side there is a semicircle window. Over the front door there is Bismarcks name written.
The built this tower to honour the Reichskanzler Otto von Bismarck. It was used as an look-out for the military, today it is open for tourists.
